ABOUT OUR TEAM

Meet Your Guides

Katmai Sky Lodge is owned and operated by Skylar and Chip, a husband-and-wife team who have spent nearly a decade living, working, and building in remote Alaska.

They both began their careers as fly-fishing guides and quickly fell in love with Alaska’s wild places—especially Katmai National Park. Over the past nine years, they’ve worked side by side guiding guests from around the world, flying bush planes, and building a life rooted in the backcountry. Their shared passion for wildlife, aviation, and thoughtful hospitality ultimately led them to build Katmai Sky Lodge together—by hand, with care, and with a deep respect for the land.

Skylar and Chip are Alaska residents and were even married in Katmai, a place that has shaped both their personal and professional lives. Their camp dog, Django, has been by their side in Katmai for the past nine years and now proudly serves as the lodge dog. Together, they look forward to welcoming guests and sharing the quiet, wild beauty of this incredible corner of Alaska.

Chip Lamont

OWNER – GUIDE – PILOT

Chip is a bush pilot, builder, and guide who plays a central role in daily lodge operations and aviation logistics. He has extensive experience flying and navigating remote Alaska, and flew every piece of lumber that built Katmai Sky Lodge. Chip is also an avid birder and loves helping guests spot and identify the many bird species that call Katmai home.

Chris & Linda Branham

CONSULTANTS – MENTORS

The Branham family has history in the Katmai region dating back before statehood. As pioneers in the remote lodging industry, then the luxury remote lodge industry, they’re known for pioneering the catch and release fishing with barbless hooks trend of the area, ensuring this wild and delicate ecosystem remain intact for generations to come. While Chris and Linda Branham are finally enjoying a well earned retirement, they’ve enjoyed consulting with Lamonts on this new adventure and look forward to watching it thrive.
