What Sets Katmai Sky Apart:

Small-group, all-inclusive access to Katmai—beyond the falls

When people start researching a trip to Katmai National Park, they quickly realize there are many ways to experience this place- and that not all experiences are the same. At Katmai Sky Lodge, we built something intentionally different, shaped by years of working in the park and a deep respect for its wildlife and wild character.

Here’s what sets Katmai Sky apart.

Small Groups, By Design

We intentionally keep our guest numbers small. This isn’t just about comfort- it’s about flexibility, safety, and the quality of the experience. Small groups allow us to move thoughtfully through bear country, adapt plans based on weather and wildlife activity, and tailor each day around what our guests are most excited to experience. Fewer people means less pressure on the landscape and more meaningful time in it.

Fully All-Inclusive, so you can be present

From the moment you arrive in King Salmon, we take care of everything. Flights to and from the lodge, guided excursions, chef-prepared meals, comfortable lodging, and logistics are all included. There’s no need to coordinate separate charters, plan meals, or manage schedules. Our goal is to remove friction so guests can slow down, be present, and fully experience the place they came for.

Close to Brooks Falls — And Beyond It

We are the closest overnight lodge to Brooks Falls, and we’re always happy to return there because we know that no two days at Brooks are ever the same. But what excites us just as much are the other corners of Katmai: remote lakes, lesser-visited creeks, and wild drainages where bear viewing can feel more intimate and unrushed. These places often require more effort to reach, but they’re where many of our most memorable experiences happen. There are some places we go where you won’t see another person all day- which is the whole point to coming to Alaska right?

Access Where Bigger Planes Can’t Go

We operate small Helio Courier float planes that allow us to land on lakes and waters that larger charter aircraft simply can’t access. For photographers, this also means unobstructed views because Helios have no wing struts blocking the window. It means reaching places that feel truly off the beaten path. This kind of access opens up a different side of Katmai, one that feels expansive, quiet, and deeply wild.

A Remote Location — Truly Inside Katmai

Katmai Sky Lodge is located on a privately owned inholding within Katmai National Park, far from the road systems and busy hubs of King Salmon and Naknek. Being based inside the park means you wake up already immersed in wilderness — not commuting into it. The quiet here is real, and so is the feeling of being truly in Alaska.

Comfortable Cabins in a Wild Place

Our cabins are spacious, thoughtfully designed, and built to be comfortable without feeling disconnected from the landscape. Guests enjoy full and queen-sized beds, private bathrooms with showers, and a quiet, peaceful setting. After long days outside, having a warm, comfortable place to return to matters- and we’ve designed our cabins with that in mind. We took care and thought to make sure every cabin has a breathtaking view when we built them, so you can wake up with a view into the wild.

A Low-Impact, Conservation-Minded Approach

Katmai Sky Lodge is powered primarily by solar energy, with generator backup when needed- but not the constant noise that can disrupt both wildlife and the experience of being here. We minimize single-use plastics, prioritize reuse and recycling, and make thoughtful choices about how we operate day to day. Stewardship isn’t a buzzword for us; it’s a responsibility we take seriously.

More Than a Trip — A Way of Experiencing Katmai

Ultimately, Katmai Sky isn’t about checking boxes or chasing crowds. It’s about creating space — space to observe, to listen, and to experience one of the wildest places left in North America with care and intention. If you’re looking for a quieter, more personal way to experience Katmai, we’d love to share this place with you.
