Tucked away on a remote private inholding within Katmai National Park, Katmai Sky Lodge offers a rare combination of wilderness immersion and thoughtful comfort. Accessible only by floatplane, our small, owner-operated lodge is a place to disconnect from the bustle of everyday life and reconnect with the natural world.

Our handcrafted guest cabins offer a warm and welcoming retreat after days spent exploring Katmai's extraordinary landscapes. With beautiful lake views, comfortable beds, natural-fiber linens, and private ensuite bathrooms, we've put care into creating a space where you can settle in, unwind, and feel at home.

Hosting just six guests at a time, we believe the best wilderness experiences don't require sacrificing comfort, just leaving the crowds behind.

The Main Lodge

Built with Intention

Built by hand on a remote private inholding within Katmai National Park, every detail of Katmai Sky reflects our commitment to comfort, conservation, and the wilderness we call home. From our solar energy system to natural-fiber linens and eco-conscious amenities, we've made thoughtful choices to minimize our footprint while creating a warm and welcoming retreat.

Inside the Cabins

After a day spent exploring the wild landscapes of Katmai, there's nothing quite like returning to the warmth and comfort of your own private cabin.
Our three handcrafted guest cabins offer a peaceful retreat surrounded by some of Alaska's most extraordinary wilderness. Each cabin is designed for two guests, with comfortable beds featuring heated mattress pads, soft natural-fiber linens, and a private ensuite bathroom with a full-size shower.
We've included thoughtful comforts throughout, from in-room snacks and eco-conscious toiletries to Wi-Fi connectivity and beautiful lake views. Every detail has been considered to create a space that feels welcoming, comfortable, and connected to the natural surroundings.
Whether you're winding down after a day of bear viewing or enjoying a quiet morning overlooking the lake, our cabins offer a place to slow down, recharge, and simply enjoy being in the heart of Katmai.

The Main Lodge

The main lodge is where life at Katmai Sky comes together. With vaulted ceilings and expansive windows overlooking the lake and surrounding wilderness, it's a welcoming gathering place to share meals, swap stories from the day's adventures, edit photos, and enjoy the company of fellow travelers.
Mornings begin with freshly prepared breakfasts and a view of the wilderness waking up outside. Evenings bring appetizers, chef-prepared dinners, and time to unwind after a day exploring Katmai.
Like much of Katmai Sky, our main lodge is a labor of love that's still taking shape. While the space is fully functional and welcoming to guests, we're continuing to complete interior finishes and add the little details that will make it feel even more like home.

Built by Hand, With the Wilderness in Mind

One Floatplane Load at a Time

There are no roads to Katmai Sky Lodge, and the only way to reach us is by floatplane. Every piece of lumber, every window, every furnishing, and nearly everything needed to bring this place to life has been flown across the wilderness and carefully assembled on-site.

A labor of love

Creating Katmai Sky Lodge has been a labor of love, built by hand in one of the most remote corners of Alaska. Building in such a remote location has shaped not only how we've constructed the lodge, but also how we approach caring for the land around us.

Thoughtfully Built

Our lodge operates primarily on solar energy, allowing us to enjoy the quiet of the wilderness without the constant hum of a generator running in the background. By harnessing the long summer days of Alaska, we're able to significantly reduce our reliance on fuel-powered generators and keep our environmental footprint as small as possible.

From reducing single waste plastics to choosing eco-conscious bath products and linens, we strive to make intentional choices that reflect our commitment to conservation without sacrificing comfort.

Katmai Sky is still very much a work in progress, and we're proud of that journey.

What began in 2024 as an untouched patch of wilderness has slowly taken shape, one floatplane load and one project at a time.

While our guest cabins are finished and ready to welcome you in comfort, the main lodge and surrounding property are still evolving. You may notice stacks of lumber waiting for the next project, unfinished landscaping, or the little finishing details that come with building a lodge in such a remote location.

We're constantly building, improving, and refining Katmai Sky, working toward our vision while being mindful of the wild landscape that surrounds us.

We hope our guests will appreciate not only what we've created so far, but also the opportunity to be part of the story as it continues to unfold.
